Mexican-Mediterranean restaurant Sazon Kitchen now open on 15th

The latest brunch spot has just opened on 15th Ave NW.

Sazon Kitchen, a creation from the family behind Sazon Tacos food truck, is now serving Mexican/Mediterranean breakfast and lunch at the corner of 73rd and 15th, in the former Medina Gyro location.

With a somewhat brave decision to open on Mother’s Day weekend, Sazon says they ran out of a few items and had long wait times for customers on Sunday. “But overall neighbors were impressively understanding and comprehended that this is a new operation and like in everything there is always room for improving,” they write on Facebook.

While the offerings are Mexican-leaning, they appear to have quite the varied menu, with options such as Mediterranean toast (photo below) included alongside Mexican favorites such as Torta Española (eggs, potatoes and beans), enfrijoladas (scrambled egg tacos) , and chilaquiles (fried tortillas with eggs, salsa, and cheese).

Sazon Kitchen’s hours will be 7am to 3pm daily, with the taco truck open on site from 11am to 10pm. The restaurant menu includes “just a touch of Mexican breakfast”, with bread from Macrina Bakery and coffee from Caffe Vita roasters. The taco truck is serving their regular taqueria menu.

  1. My daughter and I walked in hungry, and left hungrier. I don’t care much for eggs and was hoping for a taco of burrito, yet they settled for something trendy, catering to the very sophisticated Ballard pallet. Still hoping for some authentic “Mexican food” place to open, as El Camion was not very good at all. Why, if I were younger………………………….
