This summer, a new fitness studio and juice bar will be coming to Ballard, setting up in the new Valdok apartments at 1701 NW 56th St.
It’s called The SIX, founded by Seattle-raised Saman and Karen Kouretchian. They currently operate in South Lake Union — Ballard will be their second location.
They call themselves Seattle’s first hip hop fitness studio — each class is run with a hip hop soundtrack. The classes at The SIX are a blend of yoga and HIIT, with classes such as a power flow yoga, slow flow, yin, and meditation. All classes except yin are in heated rooms, between 90 and 95 degrees.
The studio’s name is in honor Seattle’s area code — 206.
“We are excited to be bringing out unique fitness concept to the Ballard neighborhood,” Saman tells My Ballard. “It will definitely be a fitness experience that has not been there before with our musically driven yoga classes, fun and sweaty HIIT classes all to an amazing playlist, and fitness room utilizing some awesome technology.”
In addition to the classes, they’ll also set up a juice bar with smoothies, acai bowls, and fresh juices.
The SIX is set to open later this year — Saman expects to be up and running by the end of August or early September.
