Southbound Aurora Bridge reduced to two lanes until further notice

Due to steel deterioration found on the Aurora Bridge, one southbound lane has been closed until further notice.

The Washington State Department of Transportation says bridge inspectors found “advanced deterioration” of the steel underneath the bridge. While it’s still safe to travel on the bridge, they’ve closed the right-hand southbound lane to address the issue.

WSDOT says travelers should expect delays during commute times, especially those heading downtown from Wallingford or Fremont.

“While the bridge is still safe to cross, the southbound right lane will remain closed around-the-clock until repairs are developed and implemented,” WSDOT wrote in a statement about the closure, adding that additional closures may be needed.

  1. so if the bridge is safe what is the point of closing the right lane if not actively repairing something?

    smells funny to me…

    1. It SHOULD smell like dog crap. Um, imagine this, right before a vote on $30 car tabs. Right before this area may get their dose of reality. This IS real collusion, between the lazy in bed media and the 1 party system running EVERYTHING here. Problem is: too many chefs, all making $100 K +/year. Same with homeless: why would people making way too much $$ ever want it to go away? Bend over, grab your ankles, and enjoy.

    2. To avoid further deterioration of the bridge structure.

I wouldn’t want to be the engineer to sign off on reopening that lane until they’ve determined and implemented the appropriate repair…would you?

Of course, you can take the delusional conspiracy theory approach like ol’ man Paintking that it’s THOSE DARN LIBURALZ.
