4-story apartment building planned for NW 57th St

A 4-story building with 21 units has been proposed to replace a 114-year-old house on NW 57th St.

The proposal for 1123 NW 57th St includes 16 apartments and five small efficiency dwelling units, with no parking proposed.

Currently, a 3-bedroom brick home (built in 1905) is on the property. According to public records, the house sold in 2017 for $696,000.

The Seattle Department of Construction & Inspections (SDCI) will accept written comments to assist in the preparation of the early design guidance through November 20, 2019.   3. This land and resulting properties should really be given to those negatively effected by white privilege and the white societal agenda. If we want to start having an equitable future, we need to start transferring wealth and properties to those who never had the starting point to acquire it due to the actions of whites in the past. Native peoples, those of color, to those who have been unjustly forced to commit crimes in order to survive as a result of white oppression deserve this! Here’s to hoping Dan Strauss will step in and make this happen!

          Before that BARBER FAMILY PARTNERSHIP +FHS LLC since 12/12/2000.

    6. elenchos2.0 I hope you make an appointment with Dan Strauss to make your viewpoint known to him. I suggest you visit Sawant as well. I’m quite sure they will nod their heads indicating some sort of agreement, but don’t hold your breath for any action.

  5. Setbacks in description are 5 ft for front and sides. 0 parking for vehicles, only bikes. A potential monolith on a residential street. Public comments being accepted – please write in if you live nearby to give input.

      1. BBB – most of the SF homes on that street will be gone soon. Many are rentals and as soon as this property has been developed the rest will not be far behind. It will be like the homes to the south of it on 56th, all of those lots have 3 or 4 town homes per lot.

    1. carsongbaker – thanks for that link. You are correct, it is not a “rectangular box” but it is still just a few boxes! A bit boring to look at.

      1. That’s fair – though for the kind of building it is, namely 16 small apartments, it looks better in my opinion then a lot of the other more blunt designs going up. It’s hard to make the minivan equivalent of housing look like anything else.
