20-unit apartment building planned for NW 80th

A multi-story apartment is being proposed to replace a single-family home in Whittier Heights.

Currently, a 5-bedroom house built in 1928 stands on the property (1480 NW 80th St). Situated just next to The Dane near the corner of 15th and 80th, the home sold for $659,600 in January.

According to the plans, the site would become home to a 20-unit, 4-story apartment building with no parking proposed.

The Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections (SDCI) will accept written comments to assist in the preparation of the early design guidance through December 16th. Submit all comments and requests to be made party of record to PRC@seattle.gov or City of Seattle – SDCI

  1. When they tore down the Viking tavern, I figured the plans included some modernization to the intersection, where the light is from the 50’s, not progressive. It did NOT happen, yet it should’ve and that intersection really needs to be brought up to speed with turn lanes/arrows. It just makes sense, So now they’re going to jam a 20 unit place right at that crap of an intersection; 80th + 15th. Been hit twice there. My guess is our so called leaders want things to get worse, much worse, so they can come to our rescue. I’m going to hide my wallet

  2. This is exactly how to locate a multifamily residence in a single-family zone–immediately adjacent to a commercial or mf structure on a crossing arterial. We could build a lot of residential capacity that way with minimal disruption of the Nimbyhood.
