Updated plans for 8-story apartment building near Swedish

The plans for a new apartment building near Ballard Swedish have been updated to add a story and more units.

The 4-bedroom house on the property at 1544 NW 52nd St was built in 1906 — it sold in Oct. 2018 for $1.9 million.

The updated land use application is for an 8-story apartment building with 59 small efficiency dwelling units, eight apartment units, and one efficiency dwelling unit — that’s 68 total units, with no parking proposed.

Written comments regarding the application should be submitted either via email to PRC@seattle.gov, or by regular mail to Department of Construction & Inspections, ATTN: Public Resource Center, P.O. Box 34019, Seattle, WA 98124-4019.

    1. You really don’t want to see the sun, do you? I hear it’s bad for you anyway. Oh well. Never mind, the fix is in. And every building on every block is full of people voting “d” too. So diverse. So inclusive. So tolerant.

    1. A “real city” you claim. Many, like myself are not used to and NEVER will get used to living in the new remodeled Seattle. Putting a square peg into a round hole isn’t going to occur. A “real city” catering to and for the groomed elite delicate liberals who permeate this once great city. A “real city” now over-run with hobo junkies, and RV’s all around us, and no end in sight. A “real city” chock full of group thought and of course Subaru’s.

      1. Careful, Paintking, truth is going to come around in a jiffy and slap you with her little misery whip!

Oh, a Merry Christmas to all!

  1. I hope Design Review can knock a story or two off these new buildings. 8 stories is too tall. Parking will be a nightmare in the area.

    1. Design Review doesn’t have any jurisdiction over zoning or parking. That whole area north of 50th and west of 15th is zoned for 75ft height limits. I agree that providing no parking for that many units is surprising, however people who are interested in small SEDU’s don’t tend to also be people with a car. I know for me that would be a deal breaker, but they keep building them so someone must consider these a good option

    2. There’s no need for parking given the frequent 24/7 transit in the area. If adjacent property owners want to provide their own luxury appliance storage at their own expense, that’s fine, but we shouldn’t make housing for people more expensive in the name of King Car.
