Seattle Fire to start Friday Night Lights tour through the city

Tonight, fire engines around the city will be slowly rolling through neighborhood streets with lights flashing to boost morale.

The Friday Night Lights tour will bring several trucks to Ballard streets from 7pm to 8pm, targeting highly residential streets and areas with assisted living and long-term care facilities. While they haven’t chosen specific routes, the map below shows the various portions of fire districts where trucks will be driving around.

Seattle Fire says community members are encouraged to bring their household members and kids to the windows of their home or front doorsteps to watch as the trucks drive by. Fire crews will flash their lights and may hold signs out the window.

“The goal of the event is to let the community know we are here to serve and are in this together during this challenging time of battling COVID-19,” Seattle Fire says in their statement about the tour.

The Friday Night Lights tour is a two-week pilot program, with tonight’s tour happening in the north end of Seattle, and next week’s tour (April 24) happening in south Seattle. If it’s effective in engaging the community, it will continue.

      1. Dammit, we’ve all already closed the door and pulled the covers; all as directed by Jay Inslee. Welcome to Hooterville folks.

  1. Great idea – I see those cities that have nightly/weekly events from their balconies/front yards – singing, applauding, applauding neighbors that are health care workers etc. and think it is a great idea. Thumbs up!

    1. You start. Go on YOUR balcony and freaking throw MONEY. It’s what I need. I got no stinkin stimulus $$ or unemployment insurance.

      1. You also have no joy, humor, compassion, likability, or charm. These are things you can work on for free while at home during the current crisis. It will be fun and beneficial to you and the community!
