Ballard SeafoodFest cancelled for 2020

The annual festival of all things fishy, Ballard SeafoodFest, has been cancelled for 2020.

“It is with heavy hearts and a little sea spray in our eyes that we have made the decision to cancel our planned July 10 – 12, 2020 event,” Mike Stewart, Executive Director of the Ballard Alliance writes, adding that they explored every option to reschedule.

“Unfortunately, ensuring the health and well-being of our neighbors and visitors while providing an exceptional festival experience that our community has come to know and love is not possible in 2020.”

Despite the event cancellation, the Stewart says they’ll aim to create an alternative celebration, “virtual or otherwise, to keep the spirit of SeafoodFest alive and honor all the businesses and neighbors who have supported us over the years.”

We’ll update on any details as they become available.

  1. It will likely be fine by mid-July. The problem is planning. You can’t really plan and put on an event like this when everyone is on lockdown. You certainly can’t plan something like this in a couple of weeks. So even if our hospitalizations are way down in July we still wouldn’t be able to have seafoodfest.

    1. i am going to try and survive without this event for 1 year. It will be the hardest thing i have ever done. wish me luck all you Trumpalicious people.

      1. Trump is POTUS. Get over it. WTF does he have to do with Inslee’s authoritarianism? WTF does Trump have to do with Inslee’s tyranny? Check that stats to see just how many have NOT been affected by this crap. Hospitalizations were NEVER where the “experts” screamed they’d be. Umm, why are they then “experts”??? This is more like a game of Simon says. Simon says “wear a mask today”. Simon says “Get off the tennis court”. Simon says “six feet buddy”. Simon says “stay home, go broke”. What a fun game.
I won’t miss this thing though either. Traffic needs to be addressed. Seems many still have the freedom to drive and clog Ballard, when there could be transit options, along with shuttles, etc.
