Visit Ballard launches photo challenge project to help support local businesses

Visit Ballard has launched a photo project in which they’ll pick a weekly winner to receive $250 worth of gift cards to Ballard businesses.

Each Friday for the next two months, Visit Ballard will release a set of photo challenge objectives. The goal is to take a photo representing each item and post it to your Instagram or Facebook account with the tags @visitballard, #visitballard, and #ballardphotochallenge and tagging the location where each photo was taken.

The Ballard Alliance/Visit Ballard is hoping the challenge will help promote local businesses while giving back to locals who have supported Ballard small businesses throughout the pandemic.

“We created the Ballard Photo Challenge to help provide an active way for our locals to connect with the neighborhood – while promoting the independent businesses that make Ballard vibrant and unique,” Ballard Alliance Executive Director Mike Stewart said in a release about the photo contest.

To join in, check Visit Ballard’s Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts for the weekly photo objectives. This week (June 18-24), the objectives are the following:

1. A photo of your favorite place to get seafood in Ballard
2. A photo of your favorite quarantine purchase
3. A photo that makes you say “Skål!”
4. A photo with your favorite Ballard beer
5. A photo of your favorite place with a view to eat takeout in Ballard

This first week will include a drawing of $250 in gift cards from Stoup Brewing, KAVU, Macleod’s Fish & Chips, Ascent Cycle/Outdoors, Annie’s Art & Frame, Rebel Med NW and Skål Beer Hall.
