After a decade of managing comments on My Ballard, it’s time to bid the comment section adieu: we’ve turned off commenting on our stories.
While we welcome discussion about the topics on My Ballard, the comment section has become a place of heightened negativity and conflict. The comments have been detracting from the sense of community we strive to promote on My Ballard, and we no longer see the benefit of keeping them on our platform.
There are other ways to connect and speak about topics on our site: we post every story on Facebook and Twitter, both of which provide an opportunity to comment and discuss. We will continue to monitor Facebook comments using the same criteria we drafted for our website comments in order to promote civility and protect our readers.
