U-Haul plans to turn Ballard property into 5-story self-storage facility

U-Haul has plans to turn their Ballard property (1119 NW Leary Way) into a 5-story self-storage facility.

The company has owned the half-acre property since 1986; it’s currently a retail store a pick-up/drop-off site for their moving trucks and trailers. U-Haul’s parent company Amerco Real Estate filed plans last week to redevelop the site.

According to the Seattle DJC, the storage facility would have 53 structured parking stalls and loading bays, including U-Haul retail and office space. There would be 905 storage units of varying sizes; from 5′ x 5′ up to 10′ x 15′.
