Cookie’s Country Chicken to open brick-and-mortar on Market St

A new fried chicken restaurant is opening up on NW Market St in the near future.

It’s called Cookie’s Country Kitchen, set to take over the empty space that was home to Kitchen Istanbul (1744 NW Market St).

Owner Brian Chandler started Cookie’s as a pop-up at Mean Sandwich two years ago, and then transitioned to a food truck that operated out of Seabrook, Washington. Chandler has been serving chicken inside Quality Athletics in Pioneer Square for almost a year and is now gearing up to open his first brick-and-mortar in Ballard.

“Ballard we are so excited to bring fried chicken back. Having spent 10 years in the Maritime industry, I couldn’t think of a part of the city I’m more excited to contribute to,” Chandler wrote in an Instagram post earlier this week.

The new spot will offer delivery and an expanded menu, which Chandler said will include more bowl concepts, soup specials, more hot menu options, and beer and wine.

While they don’t have an opening date set, Chandler and his team are busy prepping the inside to get it ready for business.

The location has hosted a number of restaurants over the years. Prior to Kitchen Istanbul, it was home to Tropicos Breeze, Golden Beetle, Young American Ale House, and Market St Grill.

“We want to change the way you feed your family and we feed ours. We want to foster an environment that changes the broken standards in this industry. We want to feed you and the whole team and as you already know…We are just getting started!” Chandler wrote.
