Valentina’s Mexican Cafe opens softly in Ballard

A new Mexican coffee shop, Valentina’s Cafe, has opened on Leary in the former Caffe Fiore location.

The new coffee shop, part of the Asadero family, is currently in a soft opening process offering organic coffee and pastries.

While the official opening is due in a month, the soft opening process is serving to train the staff.

Located by Asadero at 5409 Leary Ave NW and opening seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Valentina’s offers organic coffee from indigenous plants cultivated in Mexico and a variety of sweet and savory snacks.

Valentina’s co-owner David Orozco told My Ballard that high-quality coffee is their main focus.

“We use old single order gene…We don’t bring any mix or copy, it’s only from one source, one origin,” Orozco said.

After the soft opening process, Valentina’s will introduce a full juice bar with fresh juices on demand. The cafe will eventually extend its hours to 11 p.m., with plans to serve alcoholic drinks, snacks, and pastries to the evening crowd.

“Right now we’re testing out different vendors for our things into the coffee shop and I think we’re heading towards a lot of Latin American and healthy snacks and savory items to eat,” Orozco said.
