King County Metro suspends service due to unsafe road conditions

King County Metro has delayed service this morning due to deteriorating and unsafe road conditions.

Metro says they will continue to reassess travel conditions and will provide another update at 10 a.m. “We remain optimistic that we will be able to provide service later today,” Metro wrote on their blog.

Metro moved to its Emergency Snow Network (ESN) yesterday, but ice and cold temperatures are making it impossible for buses to be deployed.

Here is the latest on other transportation today (Dec. 23):

  • Access paratransit is fully suspended today due to icy conditions that make it impossible to reach many areas. If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 9-1-1.
  • City of Seattle Streetcar is currently suspended on both the First Hill and South Lake Union lines.
  • King County Water Taxi’s morning trips today on both the Vashon and West Seattle routes are canceled.
  • On-demand services including Community RideCommunity VanRide Pingo and Via to Transit are suspended today.
  • Sound Transit Link light rail is currently operating.
