Arts and music space “Slop” opens above Magnum Storage in Ballard

A group of local artists has opened up a new warehouse events space in Ballard, located above the Magnum Storage location on Shilshole Ave.

The 7,000-square-foot space is called Slop: The walls are lined with graffiti art, and its mascot, a pink hog named Henry.

The founders—Lauren Taylor, Sawyer Hindle, Danny Strok, and Syco—came together for a pop-up art gallery that briefly took over the shuttered and smoke-damaged Classic Consignment building on 24th Ave NW. According to The Urbanist, they began dreaming up Slop once the pop-up gallery closed.

Slop is open to interpretation. At its core is a combination of art and music, but the space will also host movie nights, fundraising events, and craft markets.

“The team of artists, techs, builders, musicians and community in this space is vast. From the niches of our expression, we emerge and the path ahead makes itself apparent to us,” the founders wrote on social media.
