Ballard NW Senior Center turns 50 this year, aims to raise $50k to cover programming

The Ballard NW Senior Center is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and they’re launching a fundraiser to raise $50,000 to help cover costs of operations.

The City of Seattle and King County helps fund Ballard NW Senior Center, but according to the center, the majority of its operating budget comes from fundraising and donations.

“This year, being our 50th anniversary, we are hoping to raise and extra $50K. 50 For 50!” they write. “We desperately need a new elevator, as Old Ironsides is on his last legs.”

As part of the fundraising campaign, the center is selling t-shirts and tote bags designed by Phil Scroggs that read “Anchored in Ballard for 50 years,” and “Put a twinkle in your wrinkle.”

The t-shirt and tote bag campaign will go until April 26.
