3-on-3 Ballard basketball tournament returns this summer

The annual Ballard 3-on-3 basketball tournament is returning this summer for its third year.

In past years, Ballard Elks has hosted the tournament, known as the Shilshole Bay Showcase, presented by DYSports. This year, Ballard High School will host the event during SeafoodFest weekend, July 15-16.

New this year is the inclusion of adults in the tournament.

“We are now starting to get some momentum with the event and feel teaming with Ballard High School, moving the event earlier in the summer to coincide with Seafoodfest weekend, and adding adult play will really make it special,” DY Sports owner John Verduin said in a statement.

The event is for girls and boys in 4th-12th grades up to adults of any age and skill level. Entry into the tournament guarantees at least three scheduled games; age groups and gender will establish divisions.

Lorenzo Durant, head Ballard High School boys basketball coach, said in a statement that the Ballard basketball programs are “excited to build on last year’s successful event, getting kids and adults out competing here in Ballard, while also raising needed funds for Ballard High School basketball.”

Verduin is still seeking sponsors for the tournament; email him to learn more.
