After some back and forth, the Ballard Farmers Market has the green light to expand its borders one block south.
The Ballard Farmers Market will extend from NW Vernon Place along Ballard Ave to 20th Ave NW starting this Sunday, August 27. It will operate the same hours and continue to be open year-round, rain or shine.
The extension was originally planned for August 13, but there were some final hurdles the Seattle Farmers Market Association (SFMA) had to navigate so it was postponed.
To celebrate the extension, the market organizers will hold a ceremonial ribbon cutting at Vernon Place and Ballard Ave at 9 a.m. on August 27.
According to the Ballard Farmers Market, the extension presents “a strategic solution to include all businesses on Ballard Avenue, enhance the overall customer shopping experience and to improve market safety.”
