New cocktail bar Shibuya Hi-Fi bringing the vinyl experience to Ballard

A new bar is in the works for Ballard: Shibuya Hi-Fi is opening at 4912 Leary Ave NW, taking over The Cedar Room’s location.

“Drawing on a deep love of vinyl records, an eye for impeccable interior design, and over a half-century of immersion in the nighttime economy, Shibuya Hifi will introduce an elevated cocktail and audiophile experience that pays homage to music lovers from Berlin to Ballard,” Shibuya writes on its website.

Shibuya will offer a blend of curated music and craft cocktails:

This listening concept, which began in the neon-lit Shibuya district of Tokyo, pairs a high fidelity experience for the ear with craft cocktails for the palate. Drinks garnished with edible flowers. A pristine copy of Led Zeppelin’s Houses of the Holy. A Carpano Antica Formula vermouth, served over Kold-Draft high density ice and enjoyed during happy hour with a Blue Note re-issue of Freddie Hubbard.  A musical journey at Shibuya will be curated by DJs playing vinyl records, exclusively, and will feature everything from rare funk and soul tracks from 1960s France to obscure garage rock classics recorded right around the corner in Ballard.

Once open, Shibuya will allow walk-ins at the bar but will require reservations for seating in the main room.

An opening date hasn’t been set, but we’ll update you with any new information.
