Local art studio Salty Dog Studios asking community for help after heavy flooding damages studio

The local art studio Salty Dog Studios sustained significant flood damage on Saturday morning, and now they’re asking for help from the community to cope.

Heavy rain on Saturday caused over three feet of water to fill their basement studio space near the Ballard Bridge.

“Our beloved Salty Dog Studios has been flooded by the recent flash flood rain storm in Ballard,” the owners wrote on their GoFundMe campaign. “Many of our talented artists studios were submerged in 3 feet of water destroying irreplaceable and one of a kind artworks.”

Salty Dog, which has been in Ballard for nearly 50 years, is the oldest art studio in Ballard.

The owners have a $10,000 goal in their GoFundMe campaign; as of 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, they’d raised $835 toward their goal.

Another way to support Salty Dog is by attending their Holiday Open House, happening Dec. 1-3 at their studio (4602 14th Ave NW).
