Demolition begins for new self-storage location near Ballard Fred Meyer

Crews have broken ground on the new self-storage facility that’s coming to 1115 NW 46th St.

The Ostergard family has owned the corner lot for decades; the demolished buildings include Scott’s Trophy and a painting company. Premier Storage Investors from Memphis purchased the lot in January for $6 million.

Jackson Main Architecture is designing the 4-story 100,000-square-foot Extra Space Storage building. Extra Space Storage is a national chain of self-storage units spread across 41 states.

The project plans include parking for 10 vehicles.

According to the Seattle DJC, the project secured its master use permit before the city proposed zoning changes that would discourage self-storage facility development in industrial areas.
