Old Salt Fish and Bagels opens Ballard location

Old Salt, a local bagelry, has opened a location in Ballard at 6309 24th Ave NW.

Old Salt Fish and Bagels‘ original location is in Fremont at 3621 Stone Way N. They expanded to Ballard in December.

Old Salt got its start in 2020, created by the folks behind Manolin and Ballard’s Rupee Bar: Joe Sundberg, Rachel Johnson, Patrick Thalasinos, and Chef Liz Kenyon.

They make the bagels fresh every day using Shepherd’s Grain flour. The fish is smoked in-house and comes from Northwest Bounty, a local fish purveyor.

They’re known for their smoked salmon bagel sandwiches including the Kipper Salmon Sandwich(house hot-smoke keta salmon, herb cream cheese, pickled red onion, and capers) and the classic Lox Sandwich with house-cured gravlax, veggie cream cheese, salmon roe, and pea shoots.

Old Salt is open Wednesday to Friday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Saturday/Sunday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
