Route 40 project: Upcoming public meetings to share final designs and answer questions

The Route 40 Transit-Plus Multimodal Corridor project is starting soon, so SDOT is hosting a couple of meetings to prepare residents for the upcoming construction.

There will be two public meetings to discuss the changes coming to Route 40:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 20 at Ballard Coffee Works (2060 NW Market St) 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Friday, Feb. 23 at Caffe Ladro (452 N 36th St) 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

At the meetings, Route 40 team members will be sharing the final designs and construction plans and will answer any questions from the public.

SDOT has also created a public survey to gather feedback “to understand how neighbors, visitors, and business owners get around their neighborhoods and see how we can coordinate with you during construction.”

SDOT says you can expect the following impacts during construction:

  • Temporary lane and street closures for people driving
  • Temporary sidewalk and crossing closures and detours for people walking and rolling
  • Temporary bus stop relocations
  • Disruptions to on-street parking
  • Noise, dust and vibrations
  • Construction staging and parking impacts near the work sites
  • Changes in construction schedule due to unforeseen circumstances (i.e., weather, soil conditions, etc.)

Here are mock-ups of the changes coming to Ballard:

15th Ave NW and Leary Way NW

Leary Ave NW between 20th Ave NW and 15th Ave NW
