New glass art studio Artful Ashes opens Ballard location

A new glass studio has opened on Shilshole: It’s called Artful Ashes, and it memorializes lost loved ones and pets by sealing ashes in glass art.

Owners Greg and Christina Dale started Artful Ashes 11 years ago. The Dales purchased the DeCicio glass studio from Greg Clark at 5416 Shilshole Ave NW upper, which is in the alley off of 22nd Ave NW.

“We were looking for a new career with our hearts,” Greg told My Ballard in an email about the company.

“We are a company that helps people heal after a loss of a human and/or a pet,” Dale wrote. “Our artists capture the essence of your loved one’s spirit in a swirl of color and ashes, sealed forever within beautiful glass art.”

Now, with the new studio, clients are encouraged to watch their glass art being created in person. Dale says the pieces “comfort your grieving, allowing you to hold and treasure your memories.”

Artful Ashes is now open in their new studio from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
