Reuben’s Brews expanding to open new taproom in downtown Seattle

Reuben’s Brews is broadening its borders: The Ballard-born brewery is opening a new taproom in downtown Seattle.

The new location is 1201 First Avenue—not far from Pike Place Market—and Reuben’s expects to open early this summer.

Reuben’s new Downtown Taproom will have 28 taps of beer, cider, seltzer, and non-alcoholic drinks. They’ll also serve pub fare, according to a press release from the brewery.

“We’ve always believed that beer builds community,” co-founder Grace Robbings said about the expansion. “Opening a taproom downtown lets us connect with a greater number of locals, tourists, and commuters. It also allows us to craft relationships with more nonprofit organizations, something that we actively pursue through our work with the Reuben’s Brews Foundation.”

The new location adds to the growing Reuben’s empire: Along with their flagship taproom in Ballard at 5010 14th Ave NW, they have another newish taproom in Fremont at 4401 Fremont Ave N. They also have a location called The Canning Line, a private events space and educational space, at 800 NW 46th St. In their original location at 1133 NW 51st St, they have The Barrel House, a tasting room and “wild ale facility.”

The downtown expansion is Reuben’s first foray out of North Seattle.

“We’re very excited to be part of the energy that has renewed the historic waterfront,” co-founder Adam Robbings said. “And in our typical glass backwards approach to problem solving, we ended up with a taproom that checked all of the boxes by combining a former grocery store and a fashion retailer into a single place for award-winning beer and craveable food.”

While they don’t have an opening date nailed down quite yet, Reuben’s expects to open by early summer.
