The Ballard Bartell Drugs (5625 22nd Ave NW) is closing.
A store employee confirmed the closure, but expressed that she didn’t know when.
The news comes on the heels of an announcement that Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs will be closing eight locations around Washington. The Ballard Bartell Drugs wasn’t on the initial list, but it seems it’s still slated for closure.
This is the second Bartell Drugs to close in Ballard in recent years: The Bartell Drugs at 15th Ave NW and NW Market St closed in 2023.
Rite Aid, which acquired Bartell Drugs in 2020, is in bankruptcy for the second time in two years. The drug store chain is selling most of its pharmacy assets and closing stores. According to Reuters, Rite Aid is transferring prescription files from 810 stores to 13 different buyers, with CVS acquiring the most, including 64 stores.
We’ll update you when we learn when exactly Bartell Drugs will close its 22nd Ave NW location.
