Ballard’s green thumbs are opening their gates for the 16th Annual Edible Garden Tour this weekend.
On Saturday, June 28, visitors can explore 20 unique gardens—from beginner plots to more established spaces—showcasing everything from compact pollinator patches to vegetable beds.
Organized by a group of local volunteers from Sustainable Ballard, the self-guided tour is a celebration of sustainable food gardening and an opportunity to see how Ballard residents maximize the use of their yards, parking strips, and community spaces. The tour features a mix of P-Patch plots, private home gardens, and even some urban farms.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for those new to our community to explore the neighborhood and learn about sustainable food and pollinator gardening in both large and small spaces,” said Rain Gilman with Sustainable Ballard. “This has become a favorite of experienced gardeners in the area to chat about what grows well and get inspired by neighbors.”
This year’s tour is in Northwest Ballard and will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can pick up your map at the starting point at the Ballard P-Patch (8527 25th Ave NW). Tickets are $15 or free for Sustainable Ballard members and for kids 10 and under.
