Lummi Island Wild Seafood & More opens specialty seafood store in Ballard

There’s a new seafood market in Ballard: Lummi Island Wild Seafood & More just opened at 5458 Leary Ave NW.

Lummi Island Wild focuses on sustainable seafood, especially wild-caught salmon, sourced from the Salish Sea. They primarily use reefnet fishing, which is considered one of the most sustainable fishing practices. Lummi Island Wild has operated on a delivery basis for years, and this is their first brick-and-mortar.

“We’ve spent years catching fish the right way. Now we’re opening a market for people who want better weeknight dinners—and a closer connection to what’s on their plate,” Lummi Island Wild shared in a social post.

Founder Ian Kirouac told the Ballard Alliance that opening in Ballard is a tribute to the past.

“This is a love letter to Ballard,” said Kirouac. “This neighborhood has fishing in its bones. This is a nod to that history that brings people high-integrity food, a touch of fun, and a store that feels like it belongs here.”

The new shop will sell meal kits, ready-to-eat food, and specialty grocery items. One of their meal kits is “The Salish Mac,” which includes smoked wild salmon and mac and cheese. Another is the “Coastal Coho Salmon Tacos,” a Northwest-style taco kit with wild coho, mango, kraut, and creamy avocado spread.

They’ll continue to offer delivery options, or you can stop by and shop in person. The shop is open Thursday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
