Ballard Mill Marina sells for $9.5 million to boutique real estate firm

Ballard Mill Marina has just changed hands: The owners sold their private marina to a real estate company for $9.55 million.

The Black family has owned Ballard Mill Marina (4733 Shilshole Ave NW) since 1889. First developed as a lumber mill 136 years ago, the property includes 16 acres of waterfront property and a recreational marina. One of the primary tenants is CSR Marine, a boatyard for haulouts, inspection, and maintenance.

The buyer is Wing Point Partners, a boutique real estate firm based in Seattle. The co-founder and CEO, Ned Carner, is a former Ballard resident. Carner said in an announcement that he plans to preserve the maritime heritage of the site while attracting complementary businesses.

Wing Point’s other projects include two other waterfront industrial properties: West Canal Yards along the Ship Canal in Queen Anne and the Foss Maritime shipyard a few blocks away.

We’ll update you on any development plans for the Ballard Mill Marina.
