The local brewery Bickersons Brewhouse (1514 NW Leary Way) in Ballard is closing its doors on Aug. 29.
Co-owners Frank Castro and Shaunn Siekawitch shared the news on social media, saying that they’re closing Bickersons because Siekawitch has been diagnosed with advanced-stage cancer.
“We cannot continue to run two locations and make sure Shaunn has the attention to care she needs,” the announcement said. They’re looking for a buyer to take over the Ballard location, and say the Renton location will remain open.
Castro and Siekawitch opened the original Renton Bickersons in 2020, and then opened the Ballard location in 2022 in the former Peddler Brewing location (Peddler closed after a 9-year run).
“We want to thank the Ballard community for welcoming us over these past 3+ years, as well as
the Ballard Brewed Coalition,” they wrote.
