Seattle police are continuing to investigate a shooting that injured a 35-year-old man at Golden Gardens Park on Saturday evening.
According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD) Blotter, around 8 p.m. on Aug. 16, officers responded to reports of gunfire at 8498 Seaview Place NW. When they arrived, they found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his neck and torso.
Officers, with the help of a bystander who was a trauma doctor, provided aid until Seattle Fire Department crews took over. The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition with life-threatening injuries. Police later reported he was stable and undergoing surgery.
A 22-year-old suspect left the scene in a black Mercedes before officers arrived. Police later located the car near 28th Avenue NW and NW Market Street and conducted a felony traffic stop, detaining three people. Detectives identified and arrested the suspected shooter and recovered a handgun.
Investigators believe a verbal disturbance led to the shooting. The suspect was interviewed by detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit on Sunday, Aug. 17, and later released pending further information.
