The “Reconnecting Ballard” Block Party is back for its second year, inviting neighbors to gather this Sunday, Aug. 17 at Take5 Urban Market for a day of food, music, and celebration.
Organizers say the event is a chance to thank the community for its role in both the reopening of Take5 and the successful push for pedestrian safety improvements along 8th Avenue NW. Earlier this year, the Seattle Department of Transportation announced plans to add three new pedestrian crossings at NW 51st, NW 53rd, and NW 70th streets.

Festivities kick off at 11 a.m. with free coffee and donuts from DoughJoy. From 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Take5 will host an outdoor BBQ featuring grilled salmon, hot dogs for kids, and free popcorn and cotton candy. There will be games for adults, face painting and activities for kids, and multiple local bands performing throughout the afternoon.
The evening will feature a raffle at 5:30 p.m. with prizes including gift cards to Delancey, Lioness, and Mainstay Provisions. A special closing musical guest will take the stage at 6:30 p.m.
The event is free to attend, and all are welcome to join.
