A new cafe is opening up soon at 6420 24th Ave NW: It’s called Cloudy Cafe, an Indonesian-inspired bakery.
“Think of freshly brewed coffee, baked goods, treats, breakfast, lunch, with an Indonesian twist,” owner and pastry chef Dionne Himmelfarb said in a recent post about the opening.
Himmelfarb told My Ballard she plans to serve house-made croissants, sourdough bread, and espresso all day alongside breakfast and lunch.
Before starting her own venture, Himmelfarb worked as the executive pastry chef at both Canlis and Ethan Stowell Restaurants (ESR) for over a decade. More recently, she was chief culinary officer at ESR’s Mt. Joy, a chicken sandwich shop on Capitol Hill.
Cloudy Cafe is expected to open in mid-October in the former Watson’s Counter space, which closed in December. Its hours will be 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with plans to eventually offer happy hour serving beer and wine from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
