Dog-themed comedy show in Ballard to benefit Atlas Assistance Dogs

Mockingbird Comedy is hosting a dog-themed fundraiser later this month at Old Stove Brewing Co. – Gardens in Ballard. A Roast for Dogs Comedy Show: A Benefit for Atlas Assistance Dogs is set for Sunday, Sept. 28 at 4 p.m.

Hosted by local comic Lori Peck, the show will feature a dozen comedians—many from Ballard, Queen Anne, and Greenwood—most of whom plan to bring their dogs along. Performers include Ali Brenes, Andrew Frank, Billie Manton, Chris Talbott, Erin Salle, Jody Bolt, Kevin Schiuan, Kyrstin Deffendall, Min Lin, Timmy Booth, Ryan Padilla, and Lindsey Anderson. Much of the comedy will center on canine companions, followed by a lighthearted “roast” of several audience dogs.

The event coincides with National Service Dog Month, with proceeds supporting Atlas Assistance Dogs, a nonprofit that helps people with disabilities train their own service dogs. Atlas staff will be on site with games and an information booth, and $1 from every beer sold will go toward the cause. The show is rated PG-13 (organizers note there will be some poop jokes) and is open to ages 13 and up. Doors open at 3 p.m.

Mockingbird Comedy launched earlier this year with weekly shows at Old Stove Brewing in Ballard and Queen Anne, and has since expanded into larger themed events. Check out their other upcoming shows here.
