Seattle police are investigating a shooting in North Seattle early Tuesday morning that injured a 41-year-old man.
Around 1:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire near North 86th Street and Fremont Avenue North. When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from two gunshot wounds to the back. Officers provided medical aid until Seattle Fire Department medics arrived and transported the man to Harborview Medical Center in serious but non-life-threatening condition.
According to police, the victim had been asleep in his van when he heard several men outside demanding he open the doors. Moments later, his vehicle windows shattered, and he realized he had been shot. He was able to drive a few blocks away to safety before calling for help.
The suspects fled before officers arrived. Police processed the scene and collected evidence.
Detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit are investigating. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000. Anonymous tips are accepted.
