Seattle police are investigating after a 53-year-old man was attacked with a machete in Ballard on Sunday night.
At about 8 p.m. on Oct. 12, patrol officers responded to Swedish Medical Center in Ballard for a patient with severe injuries from an assault. The victim had several lacerations on the left side of his head, forearm, and hand.
Police determined that the victim’s ex-girlfriend confronted him about money near NW 46th St and 9th Ave NW. During the argument, her new boyfriend reportedly began striking him with a machete, seriously injuring him. The victim escaped in a vehicle with his friend, who drove him to the nearby hospital.
Officers located the scene of the attack, which included a 20-foot blood trail, and processed it for evidence. The suspect fled before police arrived.
Seattle police, with assistance from the Lynnwood Police Department, searched for the suspect, who may reside in Lynnwood, but did not locate him.
