Seattle police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred Wednesday night in the 7300 block of 15th Avenue Northwest.
According to police, officers responded around 10:15 p.m. after reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian. When officers arrived, they found a man in the roadway. The driver—believed to have been in a silver sedan with front-end damage—had fled the scene before police arrived.
Seattle Fire Department medics provided aid, but the 56-year-old man died at the scene. Detectives determined that the man was crossing outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck by the southbound vehicle.
The Seattle Police Department’s Traffic Collision Investigation Squad processed the scene, and the King County Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the deceased.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) at 206-684-8923.
This incident echoes another fatal hit-and-run that occurred in the Ballard area earlier this year: on February 1, 39-year-old Richard John “Ole” Ward was struck by a pickup truck traveling eastbound on NW Market St at 15th Ave NW and later died at the hospital. Ward’s family offered a reward for information about the incident, but the driver remains unidentified.
