The Fremont staple Petoskey’s (125 N 36th St) is asking the community for help in rebuilding its Midwest-style bar and restaurant after a recent fire.
The fire broke out early in the morning on February 4 in a crawl space and caused enough damage to force the bar to close for what they expect will be several months.
“For the last 8 years, Petoskeys has served as Fremont’s go-to sports bar, home away from home for Midwest transplants, and more than anything, as a place that feels like family amongst regulars. We’re dedicated to continuing to be that place—but we need help.”
The damage is estimated to be around $150,000, and the owners have launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $50,000 for rebuilding.
As of Feb. 27, the GoFundMe has raised $7,417 from 85 donors.
“Asking for help is never easy, but we are so incredibly grateful to all of the love we’ve received from the community over the years, whether we see you daily, or you’ve just found us,” they wrote.
