Welcome to My Ballard 2.0 (+ return of the comment section)

As My Ballard creeps up on its 20th (!!!) anniversary, we’re freshening things up with some changes.

But first, a little background.

If you’re new here, welcome! If you’re a seasoned Ballardite, you might recall the days of the Geeky Swedes, aka Cory and Kate Bergman. The original owners of My Ballard, the Bergmans launched the site in 2007 after noticing a distinct lack of local news in North Seattle. My Ballard was born in the heyday of hyperlocal news blogs, when nearly every neighborhood in Seattle had its own corner on the internet.

The green-and-white street sign logo has remained unchanged since My Ballard’s start, but as we get ready to step into My Ballard’s third decade, it’s time for an update.

Thanks to local website developer Jack Forbes, we’re unveiling My Ballard 2.0. The new logo draws on the neighborhood’s roots, featuring a ship’s helm as a nod to Ballard’s longstanding maritime community. It also introduces a shift from the previous green-and-white palette to red and navy blue, reflecting Ballard’s Scandinavian heritage.

You may have also noticed that we’ve restored the comment section for all articles, which is now moderated. You can review the comment policy here.

We’ll be rolling out one additional update in the coming week, so keep an eye out for that.

And as always, send your tips to tips@MyBallard.com (or drop a line anytime to say hi!).

Thank you for your readership, and here’s to ushering in a new era for My Ballard!

Your faithful editor,

Meghan
