The Ballard Avenue Landmark District Board has announced the candidates for its annual board election, with voting scheduled to conclude on June 9.
According to the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, ballots and self-addressed stamped envelopes will be mailed to registered community members eligible to vote in the election. Physical ballots must be received by the department by Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
Two board positions are up for election this year:
- Position #6 for Property Owner or Business Person
- Position #7 for Property Owner
Nominations closed on May 5. Three candidates were nominated for Position #7, while no candidates were nominated for Position #6.
The candidates for Position #7 are:
- Meagan Teutsch
- Leslie Mehren
- Matthew Hopkins
Candidate statements will be included with mailed ballots.
The Ballard Avenue Landmark District was established in 1976 and is recognized as a historic district. The board reviews and approves exterior changes within the district before work is completed, including signs, awnings, paint colors, window transparency, street furniture, and new construction projects.
The Seattle Department of Neighborhoods Historic Preservation Program coordinates the Ballard Avenue Landmark District.
