One highlight this week is Saturday’s annual Art in the Garden event at the Ballard P-Patch, featuring art, music, and food in the heart of the community garden.

Monday, July 27

• Irish Dance Lessons with Seattle Irish Dance Company at Conor Byrne Co-op, 5:30 – 8 p.m.
  • Free Irish Dance lessons for beginners, no experience necessary. Ceili dances (Irish social dance) or simple solo steps will be taught.
• Wrecked Romantasy Book Club, Swoon City, 7 – 8:30 p.m.
  • Want a romantasy without a 1000 year age gap? Or one when the MMC isn’t so grumpy? We will be reading romantasy books that stray from traditional norms of the genre. Come find your people at Swoon City’s Romantasy Book Club! The pick for July is Throne in the Dark by AK Caggiano

Tuesday, July 28

• BYOC: Bring Your Own Craft at Artemis Coffee, 5 – 7 p.m.
  • Cozy Craft Time! Bring something you’d like to work on and co-craft with us every Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. Join other crafters for a no-pressure environment to work on something you love, meet some new friends who craft and be amazed by the things they’re working on.

Wednesday, July 29

• Scottish Songbird Iona Fyfe at Fremont Abbey, 7:30 – 10 p.m.
  • Iona’s beautiful voice has garnered awards such as the prestigious MG Alba Scots Trad Music Award, Scottish Singer of the Year, twice; Musician of the Year, and even Scots Speaker of The Year. She has toured the US, UK, Canada, Europe and Australia., performing at major folk and Celtic festivals. She has also performed for the Library of Congress’s Homegrown concert series.
• Book Trivia at The Ink Drinker, 8 – 9:30 p.m.
  • Join us for book Trivia at The Ink Drinker! Wednesday at 8pm! Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. No entry fee!

Thursday, July 30

• Book Launch Party: No Gods West of Here, Swoon City, 7 – 8:30 p.m.
  • Celebrate the launch of Hanna Gaard’s debut novel, No Gods West of Here, an epic romantasy inspired by the Pacific Northwest. Mocktails & refreshments provided, all are welcome.
• Clay and Fire Workshop, Atria, 9 – 10 p.m.
  • Join us for a slower, more intentional approach to working with clay during this 4-hour beginner-friendly hand-building experience. Together we’ll explore foundational techniques, including pinch and coil construction, to create one or two unique ceramic pieces. No prior experience is necessary—this workshop is designed for beginners and anyone looking to reconnect with creativity through the tactile process of clay.

Friday, July 31

• Intro to Machine Knitting, The Seattle Knitting Lab, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Learn everything you need to know to start using your knitting machine! In this class we will review the terminology, equipment, tools and techniques required to start creating and designing simple knitted fabrics. This is a hands on class. Each student will be provided with their own machine to learn and create several swatches illustrating the techniques demonstrated. These techniques will include how to cast on and bind off your knitting, designing a striped pattern and how to create simple shaping at the selvedges of your fabric.
• Leatherworking Workshop, Atria, 6 – 10 p.m.
  • Join us at Atria for an evening of slow craft and tactile creativity. In this four-hour, beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn the fundamental techniques of traditional leatherworking in an intimate setting limited to just 10 participants.
• Bag Charms Workshop: Make Mini Pastry Keychains, Swoon City, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
  • In this 2-hour, beginner-friendly, hands-on class, you’ll create tiny, adorable fake pastries using air-dry clay and oil pastels! Pastry chef and miniaturist Rosalie Cass will provide guided instruction on how to sculpt, shade and decorate mini macarons, cakes, cookies and croissants. Follow step by step or let your imagination lead the way! Each student can make up to four pastry keychains to bring home.

Saturday, August 1

• Art in the Garden, Ballard P-Patch, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Enjoy lots of family-friendly activities like a bake sale, coffee cart, beer garden with bratwurst, ice cream cart, wine grab, art auction, and much more! Come stroll through the garden, admire organically grown flowers and produce, and visit 30 artist booths while you listen to live music. This annual event raises funds for garden projects and community activities with proceeds also going to Real Rent Duwamish. Established in 1976, Ballard P-Patch celebrates 50 years of gardening in Seattle this year!
• Author Signing: Maia Strong, Swoon City, 12 – 3 p.m.
  • Maia writes queer, mostly speculative fiction. Sometimes there’s magic. Sometimes there’s sex. Sometimes there are ghosts. Usually there are at least two of the three. There is always food.

Sunday, August 2

• Ballard Farmer’s Market, Ballard Ave, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.(recurring)
  • Open since 2000, the Ballard Farmers Market is Seattle’s first year-round neighborhood farmers market selling produce exclusively from Washington state farmers. The Market has operated along the historic cobblestone stretch of Ballard Avenue NW between Vernon Place and 22nd Avenue.
• Conor Byrne Open Mic, 7:30 p.m.
  • Share your talent or enjoy new music by local artists at the Conor Byrne Coop on Sundays from 8 PM – 1 AM. Doors open at 7:30 PM.
