There’s a new vintage and vinyl store in the neighborhood: Rotations is now open at 1417 NW 54th St in Ballard.
Ballard residents Crystal and Alex opened store to combine their favorite things: Crystal says she’s been selling vintage goods for a few years, while her partner Alex has been passionate about vinyl for most of his life.
“We combined the two loves to create our dream space,” Crystal told My Ballard.

The brick-and-mortar store started as a pop-up called Sunday Gems, which Crystal started over three years ago. “It gave me the confidence in my ability to curate a selection people were interested in and connected with,” she said.
“A brick-and-mortar felt more doable with someone to build it with and we got more serious with our search for the right space over the last year. We found this space just down the road from our home, and everything about it felt right, so we decided to take the plunge.”
Crystal also runs an event company called Crowded Tables, where she rents out vintage dishware and decor for small weddings, dinner parties, and picnics. The inventory is stored and on display at Rotations so clients can browse in person. She says she’s still getting Crowded Tables up and running, but is offering a range of services from full design and set-up to a more budget-friendly rental option where clients can pick up decor and dishware and set it up themselves.
Along with vinyl and secondhand wares, Rotations sells wine, beer, snacks, gifts, art, and ceramics. Crystal says they want to spotlight local artists and makers and host events that foster community.
“We are so excited to share this space and watch it grow with those around us!” she said.
Rotations will host a grand opening party this Saturday, August 15, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with a live DJ, treats, and giveaways. Its regular hours are Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
