Next week, a group of volunteers will be cleaning up Ballard Commons Park in honor of Jimothy, the short-spined raccoon that’s become a Seattle icon.
The creator behind the subreddit r/JimothytheRacooon reached out to Seattle Public Utilities and Adopt a Street with the idea for the Jimothy All Hands Cleanup, planned for Wednesday, August 26 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
“We will chat for a bit and do a bit of an introduction, followed by an hour of picking up… you guessed…. TRASH!!! All trash removal supplies will be provided by Adopt a Street!” the event information reads.
Following the cleanup will be an outdoor movie at Ballard Commons, where Ballard Alliance is showing Despicable Me as part of its summer movie series.
Seattle Public Utilities says they’ll provide cleanup supplies, and that people should wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes. All ages are welcome.
