Japanese grocer Hashi Market coming to North Seattle

North Seattle is about to gain a new Japanese grocer: Hashi Market will replace the Amazon Fresh location at 13201 Aurora Ave. N.

Hashi Market is a national brand, with stores in New York, California, Colorado, and Massachusetts. The Seattle store will be its first in Washington.

The Aurora Amazon Fresh shut down as part of the company’s nationwide closure of stores, which included its Amazon Go chain. Ballard also used to have an Amazon Fresh, which closed in 2023.

Hashi operates as a mini department store alongside its food supermarket and catering services.

That block of Aurora is turning into a hub for Asian supermarket shopping: Hashi is opening across the street from the Asian Family Market, which is a Pacific Northwest chain of grocery stores in Tukwila, Bellevue, and Beaverton, Oregon.
