Jimothy Jaunt brings over 650 walkers to Ballard

Last weekend’s Jimothy Jaunt brought over 650 walkers to the streets of Ballard, Phinney, and Fremont for a 10-mile tour around the neighborhoods.

The Jimothy Jaunt is part of a series of local city hikes known as the Seattle Super Saunter. Organizer Holden Minor Ringer started the group after his cross-country walk from La Push, WA to New Haven, CT in 2024. He’s put on several neighborhood walks over the past year, including another local hike called the Phinney, Fremont, and Ballard Fall Frolic in October 2025.

The October 11 Jimothy Jaunt was a great turnout, Ringer told My Ballard. He said 650 people signed up for it, and while usually there’s a drop off of actual participants, they actually had over 650 show up.

The route started at the Phinney Neighborhood Center and included stops at the Fremont Farmers Market, the Ballard Farmers Market, Golden Gardens, and finished at Urban Family Brewing.

“Big day for animals as there were Jimothy costumes, dogs galore, seals at the locks and on top of that a woman stumbling upon the group with her parrots Kelpie and Panama,” Ringer said.

The Jimothy Jaunt included one of the youngest walkers to ever join a Super Saunter event: A six-year-old hiked all 10 miles. “He fell to his knees at the end and got some big high fives and of course a free sticker,” Ringer said.

“Maybe the coolest surprise on the day was a sweet little girl who saw the trail of people at the grocery store and wanted to do something nice for the group. So she raced home to get a table set up near Sunset Hill Park and offered cider, apples and candy to the people who walked by. Everyone was very appreciative and it really highlights the magic of these events of people supporting one another,” Ringer told My Ballard.

The Jimothy Jaunt was the final Super Saunter event of the year, but Ringer said he plans to host another one next year in the neighborhood.
