The sour-focused brewery Dirty Couch in Ballard has announced plans to expand and (finally) open a taproom in Magnolia in late April.
Dirty Couch has outgrown their 700 sq. ft. production-only facility in Ballard (1150 NW 46th St), and will move to 2715 W. Fort St, the area just across the Ship Canal where Figurehead and Urban Family breweries operate, into a space five-times bigger than their current brewing location.
Dirty Couch is all about mixed-fermentation sours, and have been bottling and selling to local bars and restaurants since their inception in 2016. Their name is meant to tone down some of the “hoity-toity, snobbish” beers they make, and remind beer drinkers what it felt like to drink beer on a dirty couch in college, as they told Queen Anne News.
Co-owner Frank Swiderski told Seattle Eater that some of their first offerings will be Inflection Bourbon Cherry, Donut Return and Irregularity Blackberry and a new addition, Tayberry Gin Saison. They’ll have another half-dozen beers ready to go when they can start packaging in their new facility.
Food offerings will likely be limited to bar snacks, but they plan to reach out to food trucks once they’re open.

lol, was about to mention the same thing…doesn’t really conjure images of what i want to ingest.
Who brews a crisp, clean traditional lager in Ballard? Something along the lines of Staropramen or Pilsner Urquell back in the old country.
Bummer they couldn’t find space in Ballard, would have been helpful for them once Urban Family moves over by Stoup.
I think everyone should boycott them due to their support of Magnolia.
