After taking a year off, Ballard ArtWalk is back with a full agenda. The Ballard Alliance is partnering with Ballard businesses and local artists’ events for the entire month of April.
Founded in 1997 the Ballard ArtWalk took place every second Saturday of the month in pre-pandemic times. Instead of just one evening per month, customers have the whole month of April to view and explore art in various businesses around the neighborhood.
This month, artwork by Luke Rhodes (below) will be presented in Market Street Shoes (2232 NW Market St #101). Following COVID protocols of social distance and mask usage, the business can have up to 22 people at a time to peruse the artwork in the shop.
Other art installations include Kelvin Kleinman, an instructor at Kula Movement yoga studio (5340 Ballard Ave NW) who specializes in collage art (below).
Whitney L. Anderson—portrait artist, fashion illustrator, and graphic art designer—will have artwork (below) presented at SparkleBarn furniture store (2611 NW Market St).
Anderson is also a children’s book artist; check out her newest publication Roku and Tanza about a mermaid and an orca whale inspired by her childhood in the Pacific Northwest.
Independently owned toy store Clover Toys (5333 Ballard Ave NW) will be featuring art by Julia Ugarte from Rather Puckish which includes notecards, enamel prints, stickers, and more.
Other artists and businesses in this month’s ArtWalk include Chase Vara at Locust Cider (5309 22nd Ave NW Suite D), a collection of Late 1980’s – Early 1990’s Seattle Band Memorabilia at Other Coast Cafe, and Katherine Faubion at Annie’s Art & Frame (2212 NW Market St).
Next month will feature a new set of venues and artists for the community of Ballard to explore.
