Tableau will continue operating from its longtime Fremont offices after renewing its lease at the Data 1 building.
According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, the Salesforce-owned software company has extended its agreement for approximately 114,000 square feet at 744 N. 34th St. The new lease will begin when the current one expires in 2029, keeping Tableau in the Fremont office where it has been based since 2018.
The renewal comes after several years of consolidation for Tableau’s local office portfolio.
Since 2023, the company has significantly reduced the amount of office space it occupies in the Seattle area. Last year, it exited its former headquarters at 837 N. 34th St., a nearby 110,000-square-foot building. It also previously sought a subtenant for its office at Kirkland Urban before Google ultimately ended that lease.
The Data 1 office was also on track to be subleased in 2023, but Salesforce later reversed that decision and retained the space. Around the same time, the company also downsized its Bellevue offices as part of a lease renewal there.
Fremont has experienced other major office changes over the past year. Google previously announced plans to vacate nearly 300,000 square feet in the neighborhood while consolidating employees in South Lake Union. Although much of that space remains available, several companies, including Nvidia, Brooks Running and coworking operator Kiln, have leased offices in Fremont over the past year.
