Update (7/29): Gillian Palmer from September tells My Ballard that closing September will open up an opportunity to expand the neighboring Petite Wine Shop. She and co-owner Nick Bentley are fundraising to turn Petite into a full-service wine bar.
“We have felt so lucky to be a part of the Ballard retail community for this long. Unfortunately, business has been especially challenging in recent years and as an independently owned and operated shop, we have had to make the difficult decision to end this chapter.”
Palmer says that Petite is in its soft-opening phase and that they’ll be reimaging the old September space, with plans to open the expanded wine bar this fall.
Original (7/28): The Ballard clothing store September is closing its location at 5410 22nd Ave NW.
September posted a sign on the door saying its last day open will be July 30.
“Ballard, thank you for 10 years,” the sign reads.

Earlier this year, September owner Gillian Palmer launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to expand the Petite Bottle Shop, which she co-owns with Nick Bentley. The goal was $55,000, but the campaign fell short, raising $20,517 from 128 backers.
My Ballard reached out to Palmer and Bentley to learn more about whether the September closure is affecting Petite Wine Shop, and we’ll update with any new details.
