The kids’ gymnastics studio Tumbles in Ballard is adding STEAM classes for children ages 4 to 10 beginning this September.
Tumbles says the classes will combine science, technology, engineering, art, and math concepts with hands-on activities and movement. The new program will be offered on Tuesdays and Saturdays at the gym at 5680 24th Ave NW.
Two classes are launching this fall: Dino’mite Dinosaurs and Destination Constellation. According to Tumbles, the classes are designed to introduce topics such as dinosaurs and outer space through a combination of movement and hands-on learning.
“Kids stay engaged so much longer when they can move while they learn,” said Abby R., head STEAM coach at Tumbles. “Big STEAM topics like outer space and dinosaurs are easier for kids to understand and integrate when we can explore them through movement and hands-on activities.”
Tumbles Ballard owner Rebecca Burke says the model is “built on the idea that kids learn best from multiple angles at once; body and mind together.”
Tumbles opened in November 2025 and offers gymnastics, ninja warrior, and STEAM programming for children. Its programs are non-competitive and allow children to progress at their own pace.
The new STEAM classes begin Sept. 1 and cost $640 for a 16-week session. Registration is currently open.
